My guest today is Dr. Nina Shapiro, one of America’s leading physicians. Attempting to write a brief introduction about her many accomplishments, in both medicine and beyond, is quite a challenge. A Harvard and Cornell trained surgeon, Dr. Shapiro is the Director of Pediatric Otolaryngology and a Professor of Head and Neck Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She has received numerous prestigious awards throughout her career.
In addition, she is a seasoned and regular guest on ”The Doctors”, “The Early Show”, “CNN” and on NPR radio programming. She is also a regular contributor to the award-winning educational website www.kidsinthehouse.com, where she is featured in numerous videos on health-related topics from air purifiers to sleep apnea.
Her new book- HYPE: A Doctor’s Guide to Medical Myths, Exaggerated Claims and Bad Advice—How to Tell What’s Real and What’s Not, has been published by St. Martin’s Press and is available where ever books are sold.
